As last year, using up work holidays I arranged a four night stay in Aberdeen. Leaving Hull before 7pm and with a short kip on the way up I was at the Torry Battery well before sunrise.
Some much earlier photos were taken in very poor light, this was the first acceptable one, SEVEN KESTREL berthed at Dunnottar North.
Berthed at Balmoral South, the SKANDI INVOLVER had just been renamed in port.
On Dunnottar South, the SKANDI LIFTER had also just been renamed.
At Castlegate West, the MAERSK MOVER was in the process of being renamed.
I was very glad I had set off early as it meant I was there for SKANDI INVOLVER sailing to the anchorage.
The AURORA SANDEFJORD was berthed at Balmoral North.
Moving to the harbour as EVITA II arrives…
… and SIR JOHN FISHER departs the river for Peterhead.
Still a little gloomy as SURFER TIDE arrives.
Moving round to the South harbour again for more views of SKANDI LIFTER…
… MAERSK MOVER…
… and AURORA SANDEFJORD.
Berthed at Duthies quay was the FALCON TIDE, slightly obstructed by the Aberdeen lifeboat.
At Clipper quay was the ACE SUPPLIER.
NORSIDE CYGNUS moored at Pocra base.
SURFER TIDE catches the sun at Pocra quay.
REM CETUS backs out of the river and out to sea.
SONGA COMMANDER arrives and heads up river.
AURORA STORM backs out of Victoria dock and also out to sea.

SKANDI AUKRA arrives…
… closely followed by SEACOR OHIO.

End of the first day, 18 ships photographed of which 8 were new to me.

EDT JANE makes her way in a short while later.
Moving round to the South harbour and the newly renamed SKANDI MOVER on Castlegate quay.
Another new vessel, FS SCEPTRE arrives to the main harbour.
ENERGY PASSION catches the morning sunlight nicely as she heads out.
IEVOLI BLACK arrives in the South harbour at midday.
REM SUPPLIER heads out to sea.
SEACOR YANGTZE follows a short while later.
Next arrival was the HIGHLAND PRESTIGE…
…very closely followed by SERENADE TIDE.
SKANDI MOVER catches the mid afternoon sun…
… as does SKANDI LIFTER…
… and IEVOLI BLACK.

Day 3
A pre-sunrise arrival for the small tanker KAPRIFOL.
SEACOR DEMERARA sails as the sun rises.
Moving to the South harbour as SEA GULL arrives for Dunnottar quay.
Following her closely, BOKA NORTHERN OCEAN arrives for Balmoral quay South.
A fairly busy Saturday morning, AURORA POWER arrives…
… followed by ATLANTICA SUPPLIER…
… SONGA COMMANDER…
… and AURORA COOPER.
GRAMPIAN DON was the next outward…
… with NS IONA not far behind her.
EVITA II returns to the harbour…
… as does FS SCEPTRE a short while later.
Having arrived the previous evening, ISLE OF MULL sits at Duthies quay waiting for drydock.

Day 4
BOKA NORTHERN OCEAN catches the early morning sun at Balmoral quay South.
SPICA TIDE in the sun at Balmoral quay North.
SCOT EXPLORER loads logs at Castlegate middle.
SKANDI MOVER sails for the anchorage at Montrose…
…closely followed by fleetmate SKANDI LIFTER, heading for the same location.
SEVEN FALCON arrives for Dunnottar quay North.
Back to Torry Battery for the arrival of Fisher’s SPECIALITY.
A slightly busy period then starts with ENEA arriving…
…then HIGHLAND PRESTIGE returns again…
… and FLYER TIDE sails.
SKANDI GAMMA also returns in fine sunlight.
ESVAGT SIGMA arrives for Halls quay with less sun…
… which brightens up for AURORA POWER returning.
HELLIAR arrives with a snow/sleet shower approaching from the North.
The last ship of the trip as the daylight fades, MERI arrives from Sunderland with a new crane for the port.
14 ships for the day, 3 were new to me.
Over the 4 day break I took 1850 photos, whittled down to 258 edited. 19 ships were new to me. Considering the time of year I was lucky with the weather, I did have to clear snow off the car before heading home the next day.
Many thanks again to my good friend Billy for keeping me company, and it was nice to meet Charlie and George too.
The next break up to Aberdeen is already booked for next summer 🙂
