Oban 2026

Our 5th wedding anniversary visit to Oban with the hope of fine weather.

Day 1 – after stopping at Moffat overnight we had an early start and was in Oban by lunch time. The weather was perfect for the drone.

LORD OF THE ISLES heads out to Craignure.

The Hessle built LOCH STRIVEN arrives from Lismore.

The Turkish built ISLE OF ISLAY arrives from Islay via Colonsay – she is the first of four being built in Turkey.

Running late, the GLEN SANNOX arrives from Castlebay. The first of two being built at Fergusons in Greenock, controversially many years late and over budget.

ISLE OF ISLAY heads back to Islay via Colonsay.

Day 2, an early start as usual for me on holiday.

ISLE OF MULL departs for Coll and Tiree.

LORD OF THE ISLES heads out for Craignure.

SERVUS remains moored at Kerrera marina with little visible change externally.

LORD OF THE ISLES returns from Craignure – she then left for Kennacraig to cover Finlaggan’s drydocking.

GLEN SANNOX arrives from Castlebay.

Day 3 – a breezy day so no drone flying.

HJALMAR BJORGE arrives for Oban marina.

SALLY ANN sails for the fish farms.

GLEN SANNOX arrives at pace.

MOWI SKYE heads out to the fish farms from North pier.

A walk around to the viewing area between the fish market and lifeboat slip as GLEN SANNOX sails back to Castlebay.

GERALDINE MARY arrives at the North pier.

Day 4 – a better day for drone flying.

ISLE OF MULL sails for Coll and Tiree – she is covering until CLANSMAN returns to Oban.

Having been anchored overnight just off Kerrera, HEBRIDEAN PRINCESS arrives for Lighthouse pier in perfect conditions.

LOCH STRIVEN returns from Lismore…

… closely followed by LOCH FRISA from Craignure.

GLEN SANNOX powers in to Oban bay from Castlebay.

HAVGULL charges in from the fish farms.

CORUISK arrives from Craignure.

Day 5 – our anniversary day. A cruise round Kerrera was booked on Purple Heather, a local tour boat.

An early morning long distance view as RT MALBEC heads to Glensanda from the anchorage.

The former tender DORNOCH still moored near Kerrera – she has recently been sold and will be towed to Mull.

As we return to Oban bay, ASHLEANNE heads out.

Day 6 – another breezy day so no flying.

HAVGULL heads out to the fish farms.

The only well boat this week, QUINAG arrives for North pier via the Sound of Kerrera.

LOCH FRISA arrives from Craignure.

In fine light, GLEN SANNOX arrives from Castlebay.

Day 7 – last full day of the break.

An early morning flight to get CAPE RACE at North pier.

ELIZABETH-G arrives for Oban marina.

A run up Pulpit Hill and a long distance view of CAPE RACE.
